Description
Five black men arrested Schoemansville
21 June 2010 By Cynthia Dreyer
While police are processing the five illegal immigrants arrested in a Schoemansville home on Friday, they will be having a hard look to determine if they’re the gang suspected of criminal activities in the suburb for the past few months. Police have suspected for a long time that a gang which has been operating from within Schoemansville is at the centre of the various crime incidents occurring in Sector One, and arrested five illegals at a vacant house in St Monica Street, Schoemansville on Friday night. MadibengPulse reported last week that 11 robberies occurred in and around the Schoemansville area in just over a month, and also that the criminals were operating at times when the neighbourhood watches were not active. There was also a suspicion that criminals well-acquainted with the area were responsible for the theft of electrical equipment and copper cable at Schoemansville Extension 2 and the Ifafi sewage pump station.Captain Hans van Manen, Head of Reservists at Hartbeespoort Police Station is appealing to all residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activities and occupying of vacant homes and stands in the community.
