June 1 21012 - WhitePoverty Squatter camps angered at enquiry about stolen car: Thomas Crous of Odendaalsrus went with his brother-in-law and a friend to help search for a stolen car. When he and the two men enquired at the sonamed'Sevende Laan' squatter camp he was dragged from his bakkie, beaten and bashed with large stones. Now he's in hospital with bleeding on the brain and a concussion.
The arrested men aid after their arrest that they felt insulted that they would be accused of theft. Four males - their names have not yet been released since they have not been asked to plead as yet - have been arrested and were then remanded in their on cognisance until the court date in July. Farmitracker is awaiting the court-records to establish the demographic details in this case.
Mr Crous, 48,reportedly went to the sonamed 'Sewende Laan' squatter camp to search for his friend Jacques du Plessis' stolen car, said his daughter Beaulah Grobbelaar. The men had heard from a petrol-station person locally that the car may have been taken to this Sewende Laan squatter camp (which used to be a hostel for black mine workers) but now is also occupied by homeless, unemployable white men.)
Crous, son-in-law Dean Grobbelaar and Du Plessis went there to enquire about the stolen car. People were angered by his enquiry, saying that 'we may be poor but we are not thieves'.
One man bashed him through the open window of his bakkie, and the assembled group of males then stoned his bakkie - he was dragged out of it and bashed with large rocks over the face and head.
He was rushed to hospital in comatose condition by his son-n-law. The hospital told the newspaper that he suffered a concussion and bleeding on the brain and needed stitches behind one ear, his face and his head.
