Mrs Liezl Magee writes about the traumatic farm-attack on their poultry farm at Mamogaleskraal, North West on Thursday, May 10 2012 at 9pm. Her husband and her mother were shot and injured in the attack by five armed black males - who fired 30 shots at the family watching TV in the living room. The mother also was bashed over the head. Yet the local police have noted this down as a mere 'house robbery', when in fact the entire hour-long attack was marked by excessive violence against small children and women who were fired at with more than 30 bullets and of whom two were injured and required hospitalisation.

Two years ago we bought a small farm in Mamogaleskraal, North West because we were told it was 'safe' there, and started farming with poultry. Two years later we were plungest into hell and back. Thursday night just after 9pm May 10 2012, my husband, myself, my mom, sister, and my week-old baby son and three-year-old son were watching TV when we heard the dogs barking.
My husband stood up to look outside when five black men with guns stormed into our living room and just started shooting - a total of 30 shots were fired, injuring my husband and my mom. They attacked me and my three-year-old son by beating us with stones over our heads. We were ordered to close our eyes and remain silent. And every time we flinched, we got beaten again. Meanwhile my daughter, and her 2 nephews and niece, slept through the entire attack. I believe that the Lord held His hand over us because if any of the children had woken up and started crying, it would have worsened the situaiton. When my baby son started crying I breast-fed him while lying on the floor so that he would remain quiet.
They ties us up, picked up all the spent cartridge-casings from the floor and left after they had taken an hour to upload our belongings on our bakkie. My husband and my mother were rushed to hospital.
I phoned the police at once but it took them two hours to show up at the farm. They later also came to talk to us in hospital where my husband and my mother were being treated.
I notied on their 'police docket' that they noted this armed, very violent attack down as a 'house robbery'. As far as we are concerned, this was an armed robbery and attempted double-murder. They don't want to show this in their farm-attack statistics so I wanted to bring this to your attention. Please publish this so that people in this region realise what's really going on and how unsafe this place is. I don't want my worse enemy to go through the trauma we endured. LIESL MAGEE

Ons het 2 jaar terug 'n plaas in mamogaleskraal Noord-Wes gekoop om hoenders daar te boer daar is vir ons gese dat mamogalieskraal een van die veiligste plekke is om te bly.....min wetend dat ons 2 jaar later deur hel en terug sou gaan.

Donderdag aand net na 21:00 Mei 10 2012 het ek,my man, my ma, my sussie, my week oue baba en drie jarige seuntjie gesit en televisie kyk, toe ons die honde hoor blaf. My man het op gestaan om te gaan kyk toe hy die deur wou oopmaak toe storm 5 swart gewapende rowers in ons huis in en begin skiet.

Hulle het 30 skote geskiet, my man is in die voet en in die boud geskiet en my ma 2 keer in albei bo bene.

Hulle het my en my 3 jarige seuntjie met 'n klip oor die kop geslaan. Ons is gevra om ons oe toe te maak en stil te bly. Waarna hulle ons aanhoudend geslaan het as ons net beweeg het.

My dogtertjie haar 2 nefies en niggie het deur die hele aanval geslaap en ek glo dat die Here daardie aan sy hand oor ons gehou het want as daardie kinders moes wakker word so dit die situasie net vererger het. Toe my week oue seuntjie begin huil het moes ek hom op die vloer borsvoed net sodat hy kon stil bly.

Hulle het almal se juwele van hulle af gehaal en ons hele huis leeg gedra in 'n uur se tyd en op ons bakkie gelaai. Hulle het ons op die vloer vasgebind die ligte afgesit en die patroon doppies in die huis opgetel en is toe weg met die bakkie.

Ek het die polisie dadelik gebel maar hulle het 'n 2 ure later eers by die plaas aangekom en het ons later by die hospitaal kom sien.

Op hulle "police docket" het hulle dit as "house robbery" op gesit. Wel volgens my was dit gewapende roof en poging tot moord. Hulle wil net nie he dit moet deel van die plaas aanval statistieke word nie daarom wil ek dit met erns onder julle aandag bring.

Ek hoop ter harte dat julle hierdie storie sal publiseer sodat mense kan weet wat in die omgewing aangaan want die trauma waardeur ek en my familie daardie aand deur is wens ek nie op my grootste vyand nie.
