Description
Government official Ventersdorp teacher Joseph Lekene "arranged the farm-murder of Andries du Toit in Jan 2012 at Ventersdorp: testimony at bail application of five black males:
-----------------------
2012-03-14 Susan Cilliers - VENTERSDORP. A teacher and former schoolmaster was allegedly the 'master-brain' behind the farm murder of local farmer Dries du Toit on his farm near Ventersdorp in January this year.
This was the claim made at the bail-application hearing of five black males charged with the murder of Du Toit and the assaults on Mrs du Toit and her sister on 14 January in the early-morning hours.

Accused teacher Joseph Lekene (47), who now is an administrator at the Education Dept, denies that he 'd 'ever seen Du Toit before', even though both men lived in the same town.
Lekene has been with the education dept for the past 27 years. In 2006, he was found guilty of selling stolen cattle.
Lekene was co-accused with Piet Mosenyegi (27), Fillip Mathibela (30), Frans Mokgosang (33) and Frank Moilwa (32) as suspects in the farm attack.
Mr Du Toit died of the severe injuries he suffered. His wife Lettie was critically injured with an iron pipe and his sister Elizabeth de Villiers, 64, slightly injured.
It is claimed that household goods were stolen.
Public Prosecutor Frans Moselane said at the bail-application that the investigation revealed that Lekene - a well-known local teacher referred to with the honorary title of 'Meneer' -- had heard Mosenyegi
that Du Toit 'had sold his other farm for several million Rands and that there was a great deal of money in his house."
Mosenyego started working for Du Toit only seven months before the murder.
"Meneer' allegedly ordered Mosenyego to take pictures of the interior of the house.
They also held meetings planning the farm attack at the house of 'Meneer'.
Lekene allegedly said at one of those meetings that 'he didn't know how to open a safe but would get people from Pretoria to do that'.
The bail application continues.
