Unidentified woman (41) was found dead in her home in Hennie Alberts Street, in Brackenhurst, on October 14.
18 October 2011 source: journalist Simóne Erasmus - suspected victim of a crime.
Her family member had not heard from her in a long time and started to worry, so she went to her home at the Savannah Sands townhouse complex in Hennie Alberts, to see whether she was there.
No one seemed to be home, so she climbed a ladder to the second floor and got worried about a terrible smell coming from the house.
She then contacted Detective Constable Venter from Brackendowns SAPS, whom she knows, to ask for help. When he arrived he found the owner of the townhouse lying face down on the floor, covered in blood, with her body already decomposing.
The house keys were missing, as well as all her bank cards and her car.
Pathologists determined that she had been dead for a few days, however the cause of death could not be determined due to swelling and her body having decomposed.
A forensic team dusted the entire townhouse for fingerprints and looked for evidence until Saturday morning.
The family member told the police that the victim has a boyfriend who usually uses her car. Residents in the complex confirmed that a man was seen driving in and out of the complex all week.
The parents of the boyfriend were contacted. They told police he lives in Secunda upon which the Secunda police were alerted and they tracked him down.
The boyfriend was foun under the influence of drugs and accompanied by two men, who are suspected to be his drug dealers. He was arrested by the police as he is currently the only suspect.
He will appear in court on Tuesday October 18. The case is still under further investigation.
