Car dealership Pat Sander attacked by three black gunmen, Jansen Park, Boksburg
3 August 2011 - Journalist: Fanie Mthupha - As only became known four days later, SAPS constable Cathy Meyer of the Boksburg SAPS said three black men pretending to be visitors overpowered an employee at the Pat Sander Audi Car dealership on Saturday-afternoon.
"They took keys to certain vehicles before driving off," she said."They took a brand new Audi Q 7, a VW CC and a Mercedes; the value of the cars is R1.2-million."
A joint Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and SAPS operation was quickly put in place following the robbery.
According to Wayne Minnaar, spokesperson for the JMPD, officers reacting to a tip-off spotted the Audi Q 7 driving along Eloff Street.
"When the officers tried to stop the driver, the vehicle came to a standstill and three occupants jumped out of the vehicle," he said.
"One of them jumped into a Ford Fiesta and other two got into a VW Polo, before both cars sped off in different directions."
"The officers managed to corner the Ford Fiesta and arrested one suspect.
"The arrested man led them to a chop shop in Lakeview, next to Booysens, where the officers found the chassis of several vehicles that were positively identified as stolen.
"One of the chassis belongs to a VW Polo stolen in Pinetown in 2010, and another belongs to another stolen VW Polo.
"We are still looking to question the owner of the chop shop, who is on the run."
The Audi Q7 was also recovered and in good condition, but the other two vehicles stolen in Boksburg are still missing.
Pat Sander, Audi dealer principal, said he's been in business for years and this is the first time something like this has happened to him
