The security guard at the school said, "They must have come late last night because this morning the ash was still hot."
There was one classroom which was badly burnt, while other areas were not as badly damaged. The principal of the school, Mr H Singh could not comment because of "school protocol."
According to Charles Phahlane, Head of Communications for Gauteng Department of Education, "The department is still working with the police to understand the motive behind the burning of classrooms. The burning of classrooms at a time when we need education to provide skills and alleviate poverty is senseless. We appeal to whoever has knowledge of this action to inform us and cooperate with the police."
The department of education is assessing the extent of the damage and will look at possible solutions to have classrooms for learners when schools reopen.
