Vandals dismantle bricks on pedestrian bridge -
A pedestrian bridge in Winkelspruit is being dismantled brick by brick. St Winifreds resident, Ben Sibeijn is outraged that the bridge opposite Winklespruit Testing Station is being taken apart by vandals.
13 July 2011"THE bridge started to erode last year and people started stealing bricks from the wall of the bridge," said Ben.
"A mugger can easily push you over the low, broken walls of the bridge," said Ben, who uses the bridge to access the beach.
He has expressed concern for the safety of residents using the bridge.
Ben is also furious about dumping in an area between Winifred Drive and Tecoma Place. "The amount of litter in the area is appalling. Local government should be solving these issues," said Ben.
"Metro should be taking care of the litter in the area. Doonheights has a free dumping facility where people can dump their garbage."
