Two burn alive in Noordheuwel
At about 2.30am on 3 April, three young white male suspects visited a mobile home and a fight broke out between four black males and three white males. Two black males then were dragged insode and the caravan was torched, claimed the police. They are however still examining the video evidence from the fuel station across the site where the horror event took place to enable them to identify the perpetrators.
(source: Sammi-Jo Botha. ) In the early hours of 3 April, a fight apparently broke out in the veld opposite the Sasol Service Station on Robert Broom Drive, resulting in the two victims being burned alive.
Four black men lived in a mobile home in the veld and allegedly did garden work in the area.
At about 2.30am on 3 April, three young white male suspects visited the mobile home, and allegedly beat up the four victims, before dragging two of them inside and setting the home alight. Beeld claimed that the white men had come looking for 'dagga'. The other two black victims got away. One ran across the road to the petrol station, and the other one was found lying in the veld after he had collapsed. Both the victims were severely beaten up and had to be hospitalised.
A witness, who lives in a shack in the veld near to where the victims lived, says, "I heard people shouting ‘Where’s my drugs? Where’s my money?’ and bashing on the door. When I looked outside I saw three men beating up the two victims, I ran into the veld to get to the road, and when I looked back they had set the place alight.
"The fire department came and killed the fire and I went back to my house and I was so scared. When I woke up the next morning the police were there. After this I am scared for my life and I keep all my doors locked."
Richard Lees from the Sector 7 Community Policing Forum (CPF) says, "A couple of years ago we did have some problems with drug dealing in the veld, but there has been no problems recently. I would also just like to clear things up, the CPF was not at the scene when the incident took place, but only came the next morning to comb the area for clues."
The investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel Matt Viney says, "We have video footage from the petrol station, and are busy investigating the case."
